Headpieces objects are inspired by The labyrinth of the world and the paradise of the heart book written by Czech philosopher and pedagogue John Amos Comenius. The main character of the book, the pilgrim, explores the world and later on realises that it’s ruled entirely by women. Whether it is Queen Wisdom, lady Fortuna, lady Industria or counsellor Justice, Carefulness, Prudence, Affability, Truth, Zeal, Courage etc. When they reveal their true faces, he also finds out that the Queen Wisdom is, in reality, Vanity, counsellor Justice is Injustice, Carefulness is Distrust, Zeal is Fury, Courage is Foolhardiness and so on. (Note: in Czech language, majority of virtue and vices are written in woman grammatical genre = she) Based on this, I started creating objects that are inspired by the traditional folk costume headpieces, and at the same time are meant to symbolize and celebrate both womanhood and female beauty. At first glance, the objects evoke a gentle and romantic impression, but at the same time, because of the construction made of leather belts, they also look provocatively and lasciviously. Because of this, headpieces contents and invokes two contrasting poles – as the Wisdom contrast to Vanity and Virtue contrast to Vice.
At the same time, I wanted to refer to the phenomenon of today’s female emancipation, where women often call for bigger respect, but, at the same time, they willingly position themselves into an object of desire. For instance, take a look into our media and social networks, that are full of half-naked woman bodies. That’s another reason why are my headpieces both noble and provocative.

Koruny jsou inspirovány knihou Labyrint světa a ráj srdce českého myslitele Jana Amose Komenského. Hlavní postava knihy, poutník, při objevování Světa zjišťuje, že celá jeho vláda jsou ženy. Ať už je to královna Moudrost, paní Fortuna či paní Industria nebo rádkyně Spravedlnost, Bedlivost, Opatrnost, Přívětivost, Pravda, Horlivost, Udatnost, atd. To samé platí i po odhalení jejich pravé tváře, kdy Moudrost je ve skutečnosti Marnost, Spravedlnost je Nespravedlnost, Bedlivost je Podezíravost, Horlivost je Vzteklost, Udatnost je Opovážlivost, atd. Na základě toho jsem se rozhodla vytvořit objekty, které na první pohled navozují jemný až romantický vjem, ale zároveň díky konstrukci z kožených pásků působí provokativně až lascivně. Díky tomu tak v sobě vždy odráží dva protilehlé póly, Moudrost vs. Marnost, Ctnost vs. Neřest.
Touto prací jsem zároveň chtěla poukázat na dnešní fenomén ženské emancipace. Ženy často volají po větším respektu, ale zároveň se do pozice předmětu touhy dobrovolně staví, příkladem jsou média a sociální sítě plná poloobnažených ženských těl. Proto i mé headpieces jsou zároveň vznešené, ale i provokativní.
